William Leland Fouts, 78, Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Waterloo.

Mr. Fouts was born July 21, 1930 in Concordia, Kansas to E. Willard and Mildred (Olds) Fouts. He attended schools in Minneapolis, Kansas and was a 1948 graduate of Minneapolis High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. Mr. Fouts graduated from Kansas State University in 1958. He worked as a Soil Scientist for the Soil Conservation Service and United States Department of Agriculture for 37years before retiring in 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Fouts is survived by his daughter, Mary Marshall and her husband Gerald of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home with the Rev. Helen Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 3 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.
