Wanda Faye (Boone) Hood, Minneapolis, was born to Irvin and Esther (Crogan) Boone on March 3, 1929 in La Cygne, KS and she passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis.

Wanda married Mark Hood on January 1, 1947 in Herington, KS. To this union three children were born, Michael, Marcia, and David.

Wanda worked for ElDorado in Minneapolis for many years. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church until her health failed. Wanda was very involved in her flower garden, growing some of the most beautiful roses. She often provided flowers for the altar at the church. As long as her hands were able she hand sewed quilts that she would sell but also made sure each of the grandchildren received at least one. Wanda never drove and many Minneapolis residents remember her walking everywhere she went.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Mark on December 26, 1985; her twin sister Juanita; siblings Jo, Irma Sue, and Ronnie; and twin grandchildren Angel and Melanie Somers.

Survivors include her children, Michael Hood and wife Jean of McPherson, Marcia Somers and husband John of Ada, and David Hood of Wichita; three brothers Kenny Boone and wife Audrey, Jerry Boone and wife Dixie, and Daniel Boone all of La Cygne; sister Cathy Miller also of La Cygne; six grandchildren Brenda Somers Masters, John Somers II, Mindi Somers Johnson, Michelle Somers Adamson, Misha Hood Roserie; and Justin Hood; three step-grandchildren Doug and Don Johnson and Kim Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.  many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where a prayer vigil and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 14 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church, Love INC, or the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care.
