Vivian Rae Werner, 88, Bennington, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis. She was born July 16, 1925 and she was the daughter of Charles and Clara (Nelson) Vaupel.
Vivian graduated from Bennington High School and she worked numerous jobs. She was postmaster at the Bennington Post Office for many years before her retirement in 1983. She enjoyed camping, bingo, and K-State football and basketball.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold "Sam" in 2003; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors include her children Elden "Gene" Werner and his wife Ruth, Ronda Howard and her husband Leonard "Bud", Janet Werner and her partner Dave Prebyl, and Kevin Werner and his fiancé Donna Merz; two brothers Carl and Charles "Chuck" Vaupel; sister Helen Malstrom; seven grandchildren Matt and Dave Werner, Angela "Nikki" Howard, Ryan, Kyle, and Tyler Groundwater; and Cassie Werner; three great-grandchildren Zeke and Jasper Werner and Trigg Groundwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 23 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Fire District #4, Bennington Ambulance, or Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis.
