Obituary

Velma Ruth Palmer, 95, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care in Minneapolis, KS. She was born Dec.7, 1920 in Nemaha County, Corning, KS to Thomas H. and Myrtle M. (Jones) Morgan.

Velma was devoted to her family, always. Her heart was always ready to love one more. Until the last two years she never forgot a birthday or a name, down to the great greats, and she always wanted to know all the latest news about all of them. Her love and kindness included extended family with nieces and nephews, great and grand. She was Aunt Velma to many, Grandma or Great Palmer to even more, and friends to more than we can count. She was bright and shining, nobody's fool, independent, but humble too, smart, and kind, and fun. A part of her has passed away, but much will be carried within us every day.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred L. Palmer; sister, Hazel Patrick; and brothers, Harold, Lotie, and Ralph Morgan.

She is survived by her three children, Sally (Gary) Runnalls, Oakley, Tom (Kathy) Palmer, Solomon, and Brad (Gigi) Palmer, El Dorado; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, February 15 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Family graveside services will be Monday afternoon at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care and can be sent to Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
