Velena I. Allen, 73, Minneapolis, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at her home. She was born February 6, 1943 in Big Spring, TX to A.L. and Mildred (Franklin) Woods.

Velena was united in marriage with Richard Kirby Allen on July 10, 1961 in Big Spring. She worked as a secretary for Dub Johnson and Sons for over 25 years. She then served as Deputy County Clerk for Ottawa County. After her retirement, Velena worked at Hard Rock Liquor Store as a clerk.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mildred LaFaye Hudson.

Survivors include her husband, Kirby; sons Scott Allen and wife Tami and Joe Allen and wife Angela; brother Dallas Woods and wife Dorothy; brother-in-law Bob Hudson and wife Jo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 21 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Health Department Public Transportation.
