Thomas Gene Williams, 65, Bennington, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. He was born November 17, 1948 in Salina to Marvin and Lydia (Witte) Williams.
Tom was a 1966 graduate of Tescott High School and he earned his Bachelor's Degree from Emporia State University. He was united in marriage with Nancy J. Thomas on November 1, 1969 in Salina. Tom was a coach and he taught various subjects including junior and senior high Industrial Arts, Drafting, and Driver's Education. He taught at Strong City, Clifton/Clyde, Southeast of Saline, and Bennington. Tom was also a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, Kansas National Education Association, and he served in the Air National Guard.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother John.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of the home; son Brian Williams and his wife Arie of Emporia; daughter Amanda Rensink and her husband Cade of Ada; sisters Merilyn Reinking and her husband Paul of Tescott, Patty Rush and her husband Deryl of Salina, and Judy Catapano-Wilson of Salina; sister-in-law Carol Williams Nelson of Lincoln; four grandchildren Clara and Molly Williams and Callan and Colyer Rensink.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa County Health Center to benefit the Hospice Room or the Tescott Veterans Park.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 10 at the Bennington Bible Church with Pastors Nathan Marsh and Todd Burrow officiating. Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery.
