Obituary

With profound faith and a heart filled with love, Linda Sue Weiland, 76, of Minneapolis, Kansas, passed away on February 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born in Salina, Kansas on February 24, 1948, daughter of Francis "Buck" and LaVada (Hofflinger) Istas.

She and Steve Barnett were married July 5, 1969, and two sons, Eric and Justin were born. On October 14, 1989, she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Weiland. They lived most of their married life in Bennington, Kansas. She retired from Bennett Autoplex in Salina, Kansas after working for more than 30 years. Sue loved gardening, decorating for all the holidays, and making "birthday signs" for her family.

She was a devoted parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Kansas and she found great strength in prayer.

Beloved by all who knew her, Sue is survived in death by her sons, Justin Barnett (Jenny) of Tescott, Kansas,  Jeremy (Diane) Weiland of Ellsworth, Kansas; and daughter, Meredith (Nick) Gleason; grandchildren, Brookelyn, Luke, Owen, Bristol, Brynlee and Jessica; sisters Midge (Terry) Gartner and Nancy Muehl of Minneapolis, Kansas; Aunts Shirley Lott of Minneapolis, Kansas and Theresa Peltier of Concordia, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis "Buck" and LaVada (Hofflinger) Istas; her loving husband, Bill Weiland; her son Eric Barnett; father and mother-in-law, Charles (Bud) and Henrietta Weiland; grandson Kurtis Weiland; brother-in-law Mike Muehl; and niece Christina Frechette.

The family will begin receiving friends at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467, where a prayer vigil and rosary service will begin at 5:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 17, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis. Burial will follow in the Bennington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
