Sarah Gail Prochaska-Carpenter "Dr. ProCarp" of Blissfield died suddenly February 3, 2011. Sarah was born March 30, 1980, in Salina, Kansas , to parents Brett and Rose Sharon (Kanaga) Prochaska. She grew up on a ranch near Ada , Kansas where she learned quickly the love of the land, the bond of family, and the joy of laughter. Wheat harvest was her favorite time of year, combining all three. Sarah graduated from Minneapolis High School (Minneapolis, KS), University of Kansas, and KU Medical School. She started her first career as an architectural engineer in New York City; however, after volunteering in the hospital there, she felt called to the medical field. Sarah was in her first year of Family Practice Residency at Toledo Hospital. On June 26, 2007, while working at Philmont camp in New Mexico, Sarah met the love of her life, Matthew (Matt) Tyler Carpenter of Hudson, Michigan. On June 5, 2010 they joined their lives in marriage at the Antioch Baptist Church in Ada, Kansas. Sarah is survived by her husband; her parents; two sisters—Rachel Downs, husband Michael and Lois Prochaska-Frack, husband Kevin; a brother Seth Prochaska; a niece Olivia Downs; and her grandmother Gayla (Kanaga) Slemp and husband John Slemp all of Kansas; father and mother-in-law, Ronold and Cynthia Carpenter, and brother-in-law Joshua Carpenter, from Michigan, and sister-in-law Krista (Wil) Cronkright, niece Abigail and nephew Ethan from Hawaii. Sarah's adventurous spirit is evident from her varied travels and experiences. Having traveled to 49 states and 20 countries, she leaves many other relatives and friends around the world who will miss her attentive caring ways mixed with good humor and strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There will be a celebration of Sarah's life Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Medina Federated Church, Hudson, Michigan , at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Medina Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, February 8, from 2-5 and 6-8 pm at Brown Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson . A memorial service will be held in Kansas on Saturday, February 26, at the Antioch Baptist Church in Ada at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ada Youth Group 84 Prairie Rd.
