Ruth Willa Hart Geisen, 99, passed away November 3, 2015, at Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis. She was born in Ottawa County on August 2, 1916. She was a graduate of Minneapolis High School Class of 1934. She married Louis B. Geisen after he returned from serving in World War II.

Ruth worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for several years prior to starting her family. She assisted in the family farm operation and was also an accomplished seamstress, cook and homemaker.

Ruth had a servant's heart for her family, friends, church and community. She attended 1 ^st Presbyterian Church of Minneapolis. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women, Order of the Eastern Star (78 year member), VFW Auxilary Post 3201, Minneapolis Chamberettes, Atlantean Brown Club, Ladies of the Round Table, served many years on the Rock City Board and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. She enjoyed playing cards in her ladies' card club. She was well-acquainted with many of the ag producers in the area and was a keen historian of the early families of Ottawa County.

An eager traveler, Ruth enjoyed many trips to British Columbia with her husband in their early years. Later in life, her cross-country RV trip to Alaska was one of her favorite adventures. She had a deep love for America and the values of freedom, independence and patriotism. She actively followed politics and unfailingly exercised her right to vote. Perhaps her greatest joy were her two grandsons, whom she loved very dearly.

Ruth is survived by her son, Dr. Al Geisen and wife Diane, grandsons Gabriel and Jacob, all of Salina, KS, and two nephews and a niece.

Preceding her in death were her parents William T. and Winnie Nigh Hart, husband Louis, sisters Mavie Baffrey and Irma Sanderson, brothers Kenneth and Marion Hart and half-sister Hattie Fisher and half-brother Clarence Hart.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5-7. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or V.F.W. Auxiliary #3201.
