Romona D. Kibler Ballard, age 84, passed on to Eternal Life on April 24, 2023, in Austin, Texas. She was born in Minneapolis, Kansas, to Walter and Ethel Kibler on February 22, 1939.

After graduating from Minneapolis High School, Romona attended Asbury School of Nursing in Salina, Kansas, where she became a Registered Nurse on August 28, 1960. She worked on the medical surgery floor at the Asbury Hospital in Salina. Because of her outstanding work, Romona became head nurse on that floor. Her greatest joy was nursing and helping patients .

Romona was married to Marshall Ballard of Delphos, Kansas, from 1961 to 1992. Romona's daughter, Robyn Darcy Ballard, was born on June 23, 1966.

Romona moved from Salina to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1976, where she became an avid hot-air balloonist. At the age of 40, Romona fulfilled her dream to skydive. She moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1992. In 1995, Romona moved from Dallas to Austin, Texas, to be near her daughter, Robyn.

Romona was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ethel Kibler. and her loving uncle, John Weidler. She is survived by her daughter, Robyn, and her husband, Christopher Burnett, of Austin, Texas; her beloved granddaughter, Arabella Pesce, of Lubbock, Texas; and her twin sister, Dr. Roma Kibler Drevets Martin of Stilwell, Kansas.

Romona will be greatly missed by her family and her friends, especially the many she made at the Clairmont Retirement Community in Austin.

On Friday, May 5, a visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Wilson Family Funeral Home in Minneapolis, Kansas. A burial service will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis at 1:00 PM with a reception following at The Farm and the Oddfellows (2nd floor, elevator available).
