Robert Dale Merryfield, the son of Doris L. and Chester D. Merryfield, was born June 21, 1928 in Minneapolis Kansas. He passed away Monday June 2, 2014 in Salina, Kansas at the age of 85 years.
He lived in Harrison Arkansas and Wichita Kansas before returning to Minneapolis in 1945. Immediately after graduating from Minneapolis High School in 1946, he left for Kansas City to report for naval military service. He traveled the world with the United States Navy as a fireman and then as an Electrician's Mate. He proudly served his country from 1946-1968.
He returned to Minneapolis to serve the community at the First United Methodist church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall. Bob enjoyed the company of friends at the Wheel and at his Rothsay apartment.
His only brother, William Dean Merryfield, preceded him in death June 26, 2008.
He was much beloved by three nieces and a nephew, Jana Corey from San Francisco, Roxanne Nieman from Massachusetts, Stuart Merryfield from Seattle, and Amy Merryfield from Los Angeles. His family included seven grand-nieces and nephews, and three great-grand-nieces and nephews.
His loving and kind spirit will be with us always.
