Robert J. "Jim" Bruce, 73, Minneapolis, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his home. Jim was born August 27, 1937 on the farm near Minneapolis to Robert and Doris (Woodruff) Bruce.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Minneapolis High School and he was a retired farmer. On November 3, 1970 he was united in marriage with Melba (Kindall) Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Nichole Johns.
Survivors include his wife Melba of the home; children Jodi Jones of Centennial, CO, Kevin Jones and his wife Tammy of Ottawa, Cathy Hoover and her husband Mark of Minneapolis, and Mickey Jones and his wife Teresa of Minneapolis; grandchildren Amoreena Whitteker, Sara Davidson, Cassandra Jones, Calissa Hoover, Jonathan, Erica, and Bradley Jones, C.J. Johns, and Waylon Johns; great-grandchildren Julian and Ailah Boarassa, Aiden Davidson-Slichter, Braylon Ambler, Augustus, Grace, and Jasper Johns, and Caul and Tucker Johns.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at the Free Methodist Church, Minneapolis with the Rev. Dr. Robert Wolcott officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Sylvia Wolcott. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Viewing will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Free Methodist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
