Rebecca Ann (Pierce) Kawai passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 in Waiane, Hawaii. She was born July 4, 1952 in Hays, Kansas to Nathan and Mary Jean Pierce.
On June 2, 1973, Rebecca was united in marriage with Leighton Kawai in Minneapolis, Kansas. She worked with special needs and at risk children at Kamp Hawaii. She was a member of Word of Life Church.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband Leighton of the home; her children Kaena Kawai and his wife Odessa of Bremerton, Washington; Kaimi Kawai, Kanoa Kawai and his wife Kehau, and Kanani Kawai all of Waiane, Hawaii; her mother Mary Jean Pierce of Minneapolis, Kansas; her sister Susan Drummond and her husband Tony of Minneapolis, Kansas; her brother Shawn Pierce and his wife Sherry of New Cambria, Kansas; and her seven grandchildren Tehani, Taylor, Dahrius, Mariska, Halia, Keala, and Huali.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis with Michele McHenry, C.L.P. officiating. Memorials may be left in care of Wilson Shields Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467 and will be designated at a later date.
