Patricia
Wagner
Feb 7, 1924 — Aug 24, 2018
Bennington
Patricia served in the Navy Waves during WWII while her husband, AJ Wagner, was on overseas duty. After the war, they returned to the Bennington area to take over the family farm. Patricia was a writer of poetry and family history, and she developed excellent skills as a seamstress. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and throughout her life she was known for her gracious kindness. She made wonderful oatmeal cookies, cinnamon rolls, cherry pies, and conversation, and her kitchen was the favorite spot of friends and relatives. Pat loved music and was an excellent harmony singer. She saw the best in all she met, made everyone's day brighter, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Pat was born on February 7, 1924, the eldest of 6 children born to Alice and Irvin Hamilton. Her mother died when she was 10 years old from complications of childbirth, and the family was separated and raised by relatives. She is survived by her four children: sons Mike (Marlys), Don (Debbie), Jay (Sharolyn) Wagner, and daughter Alice (Frank) Herrman; her sister Mary Matson and brothers Jim and Joe Hamilton, and sister-in-law Twila Tipton. She was preceded in death by her husband AJ and brothers Tom and John Hamilton. Patricia has 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 3:00 pm, at the United Church in Bennington. Memorials may be given to the Wagner Family Scholarship Fund at USD 240, Bennington, or to Kindred Hospice.
