Obituary

Nancy B. McHenry, 79, Minneapolis, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. She was born March 14, 1935 in Minneapolis to Darrel E. and Frances (Payne) Hubbard.
Nancy attended Minneapolis schools and she was a 1953 graduate of Minneapolis High School. She then attended Fort Hays State University where she studied secretarial and clerical business. Nancy and Mark L. McHenry were united in marriage on September 5, 1954 and three children were born into their marriage. Before settling in Minneapolis they lived in Arkansas City, Towanda, Lakin, Concordia, and Delphos.
She was a librarian for many years at the Minneapolis Grade School and Delphos Attendance Center. Nancy was a dedicated farm mother and wife. She cooked many harvest meals, gave rides to the fields, and provided cold drinks and candy bars during afternoon breaks. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and an organizer of many funeral dinners. She also served as a volunteer for the annual chicken dinner and the church fair stand. Nancy was also a member of PEO, Home Arts EHU, Quest Club, various Bridge clubs, and she was a Cub Scout and 4-H leader. She also served as the Ottawa County Fair project superintendent and she served on the Ottawa County Election Board. She was a caretaker for many elderly family members, often you could find her buying groceries for them and driving them to appointments and making frequent calls to check on them. Nancy volunteered for years at the Ottawa County Health Center where she would pass juice and mail. She did this up until one month before becoming a long term care resident herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Mason McHenry.
Survivors include her children Jeff McHenry and wife Michele, Craig McHenry and wife Kathy, and Jill Cross and husband Brian; brother Dee Jay Hubbard and wife Audrey; grandchildren Megan Endres, Molly Reilly, Kacia, Madison, and Jaidyn McHenry, and Clara and Clayton Cross; great-grandchildren Gracelyn Marrs and Benjamin and Joseph Endres.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 24 at the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis with Pastors Kennedy Mukwindidza and Michele McHenry officiating. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Ottawa County Community Foundation, Ottawa County Health Center, or the First United Methodist Church.
