Muriel Greene, 92, Tescott, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019. She was born June 2, 1927 near Tescott to Albert and Thelma (Hapes) Peterson.
Muriel went to school at Churchill and Franklin country schools and
graduated from Tescott High School in 1944. On December 24, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth, and together they farmed and operated a photography business for 50 years.
As a teenager, Muriel served as organist for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tescott. She taught Sunday School, led the Junior Mission Band, worked for Tescott Cheese Company, and traveled and promoted for the American Bible Society. Muriel became Key Leader by starting Lutheran World Relief in Kansas and served for 30 years.
She wrote a history of Tescott, "Of Floods and Flowers", which Ken illustrated, as well as programs the two presented in the area. Among them were the life stories of longtime Tescott Pastor Harold Martens and longtime Lincoln doctor, Harold Songer. Muriel was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln.
She was preceded in death her parents and her brother, Marvin.
Muriel is survived by her husband of 74 years, Kenneth; daughter, Marcia; and son, Marion.
Muriel donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center for research. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 13 at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
