Obituary

MSgt Matthew S. Meyer, Kansas Air National Guard, 37, Minneapolis, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. He was born March 27, 1976 in Clay Center to Randy and Vicki (Sunderland) Meyer.

He was baptized in the Holy Spirit on April 11, 1976 and he confirmed his Faith in Christ on April 8, 1990. Matt was a 1994 graduate of Linn High School and in December he joined the United States Air Force. He served for 19 years. He was united in marriage with Jennifer Fry on February 26, 1996 in Rapid City, SD. During his military career he was stationed at numerous bases. Matt worked as an assistant fire chief and he did NCOIC vehicle maintenance. He was a member of the 284th ASOS. Matt was the owner of Meyer Metalworks; specializing in custom made grills and metal fabrication.

Matt was preceded in death by his step-father-in-law Rich Anderson; and grandfathers William Sunderland and Delbert Meyer.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer; son Zachary Meyer; daughters Brittney and Hannah Meyer; parents Randy and Vicki Meyer; brother Eric Meyer and his fiancé Meggen; sister Kendra Reith and husband Tim; grandmothers Patricia Jones and Ruth Meyer; father-in-law Robert Fry and wife Mikki; mother-in-law Sherri Anderson; brother-in-laws Justin Fry and wife Dr. Julia Fry and Jeremiah Brown; sister-in-law Amber Larsen and husband Spencer; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 10 at the Webster Conference Center, Interstate 70 and Ohio, Salina. Burial with full military honors will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Linn, at 3:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the U.S. Autism & Asperger Association and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467.
