Mildred Gale (Campbell) Smith, 84, Minneapolis, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care. Gale was born August 8, 1932 in Osborne County, KS to Charles Clair "Jack" and Mary Evelyn (Spallinger) Campbell.

Gale attended school at Rocky Hill District #77 and was a graduate of Miltonvale High School. She then attended Emporia State Teacher's College and Brown Mackie College in Salina. She taught briefly in Cloud County. Gale worked at the Citizen's State Bank in Miltonvale. She was also a banking executive secretary in California and an executive secretary for a construction company in Denver.

Gale and Donald Merritt Smith were united in marriage on April 17, 1970. When Don retired they moved to Delphos to be close to family and friends. After Don passed away she lived in Salina and then Minneapolis.

She was a faithful attender and worker in the Delphos United Methodist Church and the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Salina. Gale was an avid Denver Bronco fan and loved orange. She was a faithful and caring aunt who loved her family and never forgot them on their special days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-son Doug Smith; older brother Neil and wife Pat; and niece Audra Allison.

Survivors include her brothers Kent and Shirley Campbell of Colorado Springs, CO, Kermit and Sallie Campbell of Traverse City, Michigan, Bruce and Darlene Campbell of Delphos; sisters Marcille and Neil Cox of Salina and Christine and Dean Allison of Delphos; step-children Stephanie Margheim and Curt Smith; 16 beloved nieces and nephews; special friends Bob and Kathy Scott and their children Amy, Nikki, and Taylor and their families. Gale also leaves behind special cousins and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 30 at the Delphos United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 6-8. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
