Michael J. Baker, 74, Minneapolis, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. He was born January 13, 1937 in Minneapolis to Lee C. and Persis (Brown) Baker.
Mike was a graduate of Minneapolis High School and he served in the United States Navy for a short time. Mike and Sharolyn Garrison were united in marriage on August 29, 1956. They lived in various places before moving back to Minneapolis in 1984. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Minneapolis and the Salina Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharolyn on December 5, 2010; his daughter Rhonda Baker on January 8, 1997; and his grandson Dennis Baker on August 22, 2008.
He is survived by his children Lenda Prince of Branson, MO, Mickey Baker of Minneapolis, and Monte Baker of Phoenix, AZ; his sisters Betty Lemley of Georgetown, TX and Eileen Berkley of Bennington; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Lohrmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where a rosary and prayer vigil will be said at 6 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Love, INC and may be left in care of the funeral home.
