Melvin L. "Pinky" Anderson, 87, Tescott, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. He was born October 13, 1923 near Clifton to Hans Christian and Wilda Fae (Henry) Anderson.
He was a graduate of Morganville High School and then he served in the United States Navy. He was an operator and mechanic for many years with Northern Natural Gas in Clifton and Tescott. Melvin was united in marriage with Zora M. Wohler Ross on August 31, 1955. He was a member of the Tescott United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion and he served on the Tescott City Council.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; his son Chris Anderson; his brothers Arvid and Warren Anderson; and his sister Lyla Johnson.
Survivors include his wife Zora of the home; his children Marc and his wife Kong of Rome, NY and Nancy Smith and her husband Dennis of Concordia; his sisters Irene Yonally of El Cajon, CA, Wilda Carlson of Kelseyville, CA, Dee Germann of Clay Center, and Donis Mosburg of Greenwood, MO; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the church or the Alzheimer's Association.
