Maude Mae "Billie" Watson, 96, Minneapolis went home to be her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, November 22, 2010. Billie was born July 14, 1914 on a farm in Ellsworth County to Robert N. and Josephine M. (Stuart) Hunter.
She married Lou Ernest Watson on July 14, 1935 in Tescott. They moved to a farm in Garfield Township and had one son and twin daughters. They then moved to the Watson homestead west of Minneapolis across from the Solomon River. They lived there until they moved to Minneapolis.
Billie is survived by her son Robert Ernest Watson of Wichita; her daughter Janette Faye (Watson) Lott and her husband Robert Dean Lott of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her nephew Charles Bower of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by a twin daughter Annette Raye (Watson) Lee in 1987 and her husband Ernest in 1997. Billie was also preceded in death by her brothers Charles Arthur and Robert Stuart Hunter; and her sisters Jemina Jane Bueker and Sarah Lara Werries.
Billie was active in Extension clubs and served on the Homemaker Circle for 50 years. She also received a 55 year honor at the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis. Billie was involved in 4H leadership, the Brownies and Girl Scouts, and she was a homemaker. Her hobbies were art, painting, drawing, and reading. She also loved her farm flowers and garden.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Burrow officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Viewing will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care Activities Department or Love INC and may be left in care of the funeral home.
