Mary Catherine Waiss, 79, Bennington, Kansas passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.
Mary was born February 23, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Norton D. and Ruth (Lane) Newbury. She was united in marriage with Theodore H. Waiss on March 8, 1952 in Tulsa. Mary and Ted lived in Leawood, Kansas and Albuquerque, New Mexico before moving to Bennington in 1994. Mary worked as a secretary to the principal at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.
She was a member of the United Church of Bennington.
Survivors include her husband Ted Waiss of the home; her daughters Karen Ann Johns and her husband Henry of Lawrence and Linda Kay Ochs of Topeka; and her three grandchildren Amanda Vehlewald and her husband Tom of Olathe, Daniel Ochs of Hartford, Connecticut, and David Ochs of Manhattan.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 6 at the United Church of Bennington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Ambulance Fund or the United Church and may be left in care of Wilson Shields Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
