Marjorie Maxine Chambers was born May 14, 1916 in Tescott, Kansas to Clyde and Maggie (Shields) Chambers. Maxine died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center, Salina, Kansas at the age of 92 years.
Maxine attended school in Tescott where she was a 1934 graduate of Tescott High School. On November 26, 1939, she was united in marriage with Delmar Hogarty. They lived in San Diego, California unitl 1956 when they moved back to Tescott. Together they operated Hogarty Upholstery. Maxine was an assistant postal clerk in Tescott for many years. The last several years she has lived in Salina at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Delmar in 1992; and her two brothers, Harold and Clay Chambers.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Vicki Gruber and her husband John of Hope, Kansas; grandson, Chris Gruber and wife Kai of Manhattan, Kansas; granddaughter, Kelli Almes and husband Ryan of Manhattan, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Aiden, and Abigail all of Manhattan, Kansas; sister, Mary Lou Crawford of Salina, Kansas; sister-in-law, Dola Chambers of Richmond, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Monday at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. The casket will be open one hour before the service Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
