Luella M. Base, 74, Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Windsor Estates, Salina, Kansas.
Luella was born November 2, 1933 in Salina, Kansas to Emmett L. and Viola B. (Kennison) Laughlin. She was united in marriage with Clarence Base on September 27, 1953 in Salina; he preceded her in death on October 21, 1998. Luella worked at the Brookville Hotel, K-Mart, and U.S.D. 305. She was a member of Salina TOPS.
Survivors include her children, Dennis and his wife Joanie of Salina, Brian of Lindsborg, Gene and his wife Kristi of Brookville, and Cindy Melton and her husband Pete of Olney, Texas; her brother, Tom Laughlin of Canton, Kansas; and her grandchildren, Tyffany Wendling, Dakota, Brandi, Bailey, Lucas, Denim, and Brenna Base.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in the Culver Union Cemetery. Visitation will from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina.
