Lucy M. (Buck) Carlson, 86, of Minneapolis passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis.
Lucy was born September 5, 1922 in Tescott, Kansas to Floyd and Ruth (Buell) Buck. She attended Emporia State University and Kansas Wesleyan University and then she taught school in Tescott, Ada, and Minneapolis until her marriage to Charles M. Carlson on November 7, 1948. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, she was known for her beautiful quilting, excellent cooking, and her love of flowers. Many who worked on their farm enjoyed her excellent meals.
Lucy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Quest Club, and the Silver Needles Quilting Club.
Lucy was preceded in death by parents; and her brother, Ernest Buck.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie of Minneapolis; sons, Kent Carlson and his wife Marcia of Hesston, Kansas, Steve Carlson and his wife Pam of Minneapolis, Chris Carlson of Minneapolis, Rob, a single man, of Beloit, Kansas; and daughter, Linda Saenger and her husband Larry of Minneapolis; brother, John Buck and his wife Melba of Salina; sister, Ellen Collister of Salina; grandchildren, Eric Carlson and his wife Stacie of Pace, Florida, Katie Carlson and her fiancée Ronan Truesdale of Boulder, Colorado, Jamie Carlson of Wichita, Kansas, Mike Carlson and his wife Mindi of Minneapolis, Michele Plush and her husband Chris of Minneapolis, Angela Perry and her husband John of Tescott, Kansas, Todd Saenger and Jennifer of Minneapolis, and Will Carlson and his wife Mandy of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren, Richae Schrock, Cole, Zachary, Katie, and Johnna Perry of Tescott, Emma Carlson of Pace, Florida, Abby Saenger of Salina; and Gage Carlson of Minneapolis; and two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis, with Michele McHenry, C.L.P. officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, Minneapolis Public Library, or the Ottawa County Health Center.
