Loyd E. Wildman, 100, Minneapolis, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis, Kansas. Loyd was born September 18, 1910 in Tonkawa, OK to Lee Roy and Kitty M. (Cooper) Wildman.
He was an office manager at the ASCS Office in Burlington, Kansas before moving to Minneapolis where he worked for the Soil Conservation Service of Ottawa County. After his retirement, Loyd kept busy helping people with lawn mowing, remodeling, and many other handyman jobs.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Noon Lions Club, and the Golden Wheel Senior Center all in Minneapolis.
Loyd was preceded in death by his wives Hazel Dent, Evelyn Worthington, and Lois Wallace; his brother Howard Wildman ; and his sister Edna Johnson.
Survivors include his daughters Kay Wildman of Huntington, West Virginia and Lynne Maples of Topeka; extended family Terry Worthington of Norton, Bob Worthington of Leawood, David Wallace and Craig Wallace both of Minneapolis, Marilyn Meier of Menlo, Karen White of Elwood, Nebraska, and Janice Papps of Valley Center; his sister Ruby Pattison of Houston, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Minneapolis. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Golden Wheel Senior Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
