Louis Andersen, 90, Minneapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 8, 2019. Louis was born November 27, 1928 in Denmark, KS, the second child of Alfred and Nellie (Baird) Andersen.

Most of his life was spent in education. He taught, coached, or was a principal in 13 different schools from 1947-1988. While he was teaching in South Hutchinson, he met the love of his life, Della June Gard. They were married August 22, 1956.

After retiring from school education, he was a United Methodist minister from 1988-1994. He was a guest minister at area churches until 2013. Louis also taught Sunday school for many years. He helped deliver meals for the senior center and read to the special education kids at the grade school.

His greatest joy was his family. Louis enjoyed making wooden toys for the grandchildren. He also wrote poems and made custom greeting cards for birthdays and anniversaries. Louis was known for his Sunday emails keeping the family updated.

Survivors are his daughters, Blythe (Evan) Atwell, Virginia (Craig) Wallace, and Jo (Ed) Stahlman; grandchildren, Shelby (Kathy), Seth (Chelsea), Trisha (Robert), Deyrle (Christine), Daylan (Kris), Daren (Heather), and Justin (Lori); 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Ione Shipley, Nadine (Dave) Wesner, Kay Tilton; brothers, Kenny (Nancy), Jay (Judy); sister-in-law, Norma Jean Crockett; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy; brother, Clair; baby brother JR.; brother-in-law, Raymond; and his wife of almost 60 years, Della June.

His body was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 13 at the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis. Inurnment will follow in the Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, KS. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Golden Wheel Senior Center both of Minneapolis or Kindred Hospice of McPherson.
