Lorena E. Wilcox, of Minneapolis, a former resident of Humboldt, Kansas, departed this life on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis.  She was 91 years of age.
She was born April 5, 1918 at Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of William Henry Gardner and Dora E. Trezise Gardner.  She was a Humboldt resident for many years.  She worked as a secretary for the Monarch Cement Company and the Self-Service Grocery, both at Humboldt. Lorena was united in marriage to Glenn Holmes, and he preceded her in death in 1957.  She later married Leo Wilcox, and was a Minneapolis resident following their marriage.  He passed away in 2007.
While living in Minneapolis, she worked for Honorbuilt recreational vehicles and the Minneapolis Clinic.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Minneapolis Red Hat Mums, the Golden Wheel Senior Center, was active in a coffee club and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed dancing with a line dancing group.
Survivors include a son Ron Holmes of Corning, California; a daughter Glenda Helton of Iola, Kansas; a step-son Bradley Wilcox of Louisville, Kentucky; two step-daughters, Gloria Buckley of Corvallis, Oregon and Eileen Bombardier of Topeka, Kansas; a sister Frances Hastert of Paola, Kansas and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at Mt. Hope Cemtery, Humboldt. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M.
The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the Golden Wheel Senior Center, both of Minneapolis.
