Lois M. Walmsley of Attica, formerly of Minneapolis, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She was born on December 18, 1926, in Wichita to Walfred and May (Cooley) Johnson. Lois graduated from Falun High School in 1944 and was married to Walter Walmsley on October 12, 1947. To this union was born three children: John, Tom, and Kathy. They resided on the farm near Ada before moving to Minneapolis. Lois held many clerical jobs throughout her working life including Ottawa County Treasurer and most recently was the secretary for the Highland Cemetery Board for many years before retiring and moving to Attica to be near her beloved daughter, Kathy.

Lois loved reading, counted cross stitch, and gardening. She read over 100 books in the short time she was in Attica and several family members were beneficiaries of her beautiful stitched pieces. In the summer months, gardening took up a lot of her time and she and Walt canned hundred of jars of tomatoes, pickles, and green beans. She also loved flowers, especially her Dolly Parton red roses.

To know Lois was to love her. Her kind heart and giving spirit was evidenced in everything she did. She didn't know a stranger and enjoyed her many and various friendships. Her family's loss is heaven's gain and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Walt.

She leaves to mourn her loss: John and his wife Mindy of Minneapolis, Tom and his wife Marla of Wichita, and Kathy Eck and her husband John of Attica; her brother, Earle Johnson of Albuquerque, NM and his children Larry and Deanna; 12 grandchildren: Jennifer Fitzpatrick, Jason Walmsley, Tarin Hauck, Kathy Kendall, Misha Walmsley, Brandon Walmsley, Adam Walmsley, Michaelyn Stainton, Matt Eck, Marla Althaus, Michael Eck, and Bryan Eck; 20 ½ great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.

A celebration of Lois' life will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis with the Rev. Harry Fink officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Ada. The family will receive friends from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Long Term Care Activity Fund for the purchase of new Bingo cards.
