Obituary

Leo Fay Burger, 88, Ada, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Son of Frank and Mamie Burger, both deceased, Leo was born on June 29, 1925 in rural Ada, Kansas. After serving overseas in the Navy during World War II, Leo returned to Ada, Kansas and met his wife, Gloria (Slansky) Burger, at the Bohemian Hall. They married on April 18, 1949, and lived on the family farm near Ada, Kansas until they relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 2010 to be near family.

Leo was preceded in death by his two siblings, Glenn Burger and Verna (Burger) Dalton. Remaining family members include his wife, Gloria Burger; their two children and their spouses, Steve and Linda Burger of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Luetta (Burger) and Jim Flournoy of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Steve Burger of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Becca Flournoy of Kansas City, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Allison Burger of Moore, Oklahoma; and a great-great-grandson, Izaak Burger of Moore, Oklahoma.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 19 at the Antioch Baptist Church, Ada. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery with military honors. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Antioch Baptist Church in Ada, Kansas are suggested.
