Leland F. Logan, age 83, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Salina Regional Health Center. Leland was the son of Fred and Martha (Eikelberger) Logan of Knobnoster, MO where he was born August 26, 1927. Leland served in the U.S. Army in World War II where he was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. He then worked for various maritime interests in the Great Lakes area as a specialist on electrical and radar systems for large commercial shipping interest in that area. He worked for TWA airlines at Kansas City, MO where he first met Doris Haddock where she was employed as a secretary for a large realty firm.
Leland and Doris were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, KS on December 6, 1952. They both worked in Kansas City until moving to Minneapolis in 1954.
Survivors are his loving wife, Doris, of Minneapolis, one sister, Jean Chapman of Jacksonville, IL; brother-in-law Dean Haddock and wife Nancy of Beloit, KS; sister-in-law Ruth Cramer of Glasco, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Richard Logan of Knobnoster, MO. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed throughout his life.
Leland is best remembered by many as "Mr. Fix It" as no matter what the problem, he more than likely could fix it. Other servicemen that had occasion to look at it later were amazed in trying to figure out what he did but were impressed that it always seemed to work.
Leland worked for many years for Griffin Construction Company at Minneapolis, KS.
Leland and Doris traveled extensively throughout their over 58 years of marriage; traveling to such places as the South Pacific, Hawaii, Europe and Alaska. Leland had a strong curiosity to see and try to understand things. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis, KS. There will no visitation. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
