Laurel Charlene (Mauk) Sidener was born to Charles and Loeva (Morris) Mauk in Delphos, Kansas on January 10, 1937, the oldest of three children. Laurel passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Manhattan, Kansas.

After graduating from Delphos High School in 1955, she worked and lived in Minneapolis, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Dennis C Sidener at the United Methodist Church in Delphos, Kansas on June 9, 1957. Following Dennis's graduation from Fort Hays State University in 1958, they moved to Agenda, Kansas where Dennis taught school. In 1961 they moved to Enterprise, Kansas where Dennis taught at Chapman Kansas Schools and Laurel worked for the J.B Ehrsam & Sons Manufacturing Company, which later became Combustion Engineering and ABB where she retired from after working there for 35 years.

She resided in Enterprise, Kansas for 55 years attending the Enterprise United Methodist Church having served as a constant volunteer and treasurer throughout.

In 2017 Dennis and Laurel relocated to Manhattan, Kansas for their retirement home.

Laurel is survived by son Brad Sidener and wife Marilyn, five grandchildren: Rachelle Swearingen and husband Ray, Sara Meng and husband Justin, Matthew Sidener and wife Brooke, Theodore Budden and wife Emily, and Mark Sidener and fiancée Victoria Throckmorton; and seven great grandchildren, Samantha, Grant, Claire, Claudia, Caroline, Ben, Rose; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Sidener, her parents, and brothers, Therel Mauk and Elwyn Mauk.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 18 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to the Enterprise Community Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
