Larry D. Welch, 80, Minneapolis, died Thursday, June 13, 2019. He was born April 27, 1939 on the family farm north of Bennington to Clarence and Edna (Lott) Welch.
Larry attended Sunny Side School through the seventh grade and then Wells through his eighth-grade year. He worked on the farm where he was always a help to others. Larry also worked for the Ottawa County Road and Bridge Department.
He resided at the Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis, which is now Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation Center, after suffering a stroke in 2012 that took his short-term memory. The family is so grateful to the staff for always making him feel as if he was at home. Larry celebrated his 80th birthday in April with his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Jerry; brother, John; sisters, Leona Liby and Phyllis Belvill-Fifer; nephew, Kevin Liby; and niece, Vikki Liby Deiter.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews; Melanie and Mike Linnebur of Littleton, CO, Renee Couch of Littleton, CO, Perry and Dawn Welch of Fountain, CO, Brenda Blake of Minneapolis, Darwin and Leslie Belvill of Minneapolis; and Catherine and Bill Ruhl of Fort Morgan, CO; plus, many cousins.
Graveside services will be held in October. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa County Service Corp. (to be used for carnival games) or Kindred Hospice and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
