Josephine Eiler, daughter of Frank and Celia Matous Srna was born March 29, 1915 in Mitchell County and grew up in the Milo and Barnard area. She passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Ottawa County Health Center, having reached the age of 94.

Josephine was united in marriage to Gilbert Eiler on April 24, 1935 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They lived on a farm north west of Minneapolis, until 1947 when they moved to a location south of the city park and operated an auto repair shop "Home Garage". Gilbert passed away in April of 2000. Josephine was a homemaker, she also kept books for the "Home Garage" and assisted Gilbert with their farming operation until their retirement. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women.

Never having children of her own, Josephine cherished the times she spent with her many nieces and nephews. She was known as a second mother to many. Josephine was caring and devoted to her family and many close friends, she was willing to help in need, and she always enjoyed a good laugh.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Andrew and Frank Srna; and three sisters, Cecelia Snyder, Elsie Hiserote, and Beatrice Duvall. Josephine is survived by three sisters: Frances Schurle of Manhattan, Orphie Daugherty of Wichita, and Darlene Dill of Enid Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home where a vigil and Rosary will be at 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Health Center or the church.
