Obituary

John Thomas Nace was born Sept 25, 1920 in Dwight, KS, the youngest of the 6 children of Fred H. and Jennie (Brown) Nace. He died October 24, 2010, in Minneapolis, KS.
John attended Weston rural school and graduated from Alta Vista High School.
He served in North Africa, Corsica, and Italy during WWII in the 308th Signal Company Wing of the 395th Signal Battalion of the US Army.
Returning to the Nace farm at Alta Vista, he worked with brother Robert in the dairy operation while attending K-State. He earned a BS in Agricultural Education with honors in 1950, then taught high school Vocational Agriculture at Rose Hill and Delphos. He married Eula M. Page in 1949, who remains at home in Minneapolis, KS.
In 1961 he became a Rural Letter Carrier at Delphos, where he retired in 1989. John volunteered in Lions Club, Scouting, and Pee Wee Baseball. He was baptized into the Church of Christ as a young man and attended Delphos United Methodist Church with his family.
Children include Rob Nace, Overland Park, KS; Mark & wife Kathy (McKinney) Nace, Lawrence, KS and granddaughters Ginny Nace and Jessica Nicholson; and Tim & wife Beth (Lott) Nace, Minneapolis, KS, and grandchildren Connor and Camryn. He is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Crouch, of Mansfield, TX.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Delphos United Methodist Church, followed by a 2:30 P.M. burial at Welcome Cemetery near Alta Vista, KS with full military honors. Visitation will be from 2-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Delphos United Methodist Church and Feed the Children and may be left in care of Wilson Shields Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467
