John H. Ihnken, 74, Bennington, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Salina Regional Health Center. He was born February 18, 1942 in Harris, Iowa to George and Anna Marie (Van Dyk) Ihnken.
John was a 1961 graduate of Sibley High School and he served in the United States Army from 1961-1965. He and Jeanne Jackson were united in marriage on February 20, 1965 in Osage City. John was the owner and operator of JI Trucking and he was a member of the Bennington Lions Club and the United Church of Bennington.
John was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers John and James; granddaughter CarieJo Ihnken; and great-granddaughter Paige Marie Ihnken.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jeanne; sons Jon (Shelly) Ihnken and Jason (Stacy) Ihnken; brother Donald Ihnken; sister Winifred Krogman; mother-in-law Jane Jackson; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, at the United Church of Bennington. Burial with military honors will be in the Bennington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 6-8. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Bennington, Bennington Senior Center, or the Bennington Community Library.
