Obituary

John T. Hyde, D.V.M., 73, Minneapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 28, 2016. He was born May 30, 1942 in Wichita to John H. and Joyce R. (Pennington) Hyde.

John attended school in Augusta and was a 1960 graduate of Augusta High School. He then attended Kansas State University and graduated with his Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine. John and Evelyn Jilka were married on June 4, 1966 in Delphos. He worked as a veterinarian in Douglass from 1966 to 1971 and then they made their home Minneapolis where they raised their family. He continued his practice in Minneapolis and later farmed. John was a member of the Community Bible Church where he served as an AWANA commander, TNT leader for the Girls Club, and taught bible studies. John and Evelyn were currently teaching classes at the Pregnancy Service Center in Salina and a Love and Respect Class at the Minneapolis Public Library.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Kimberly Wielhouwer.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Evelyn; children Nathan Hyde, D.V.M., Kari Hyde, and Karyn Clanton and her husband Aaron; two grandchildren Jacob and Talia Clanton; sister Cathy Harmon, D.V.M. and her husband Gary Harmon, D.V.M.; nephew Tim Harmon, D.V.M. and his wife Lindsey and their children Amelia, Locklann, and Norah.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 3-5. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Community Bible Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in the Glasco Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Service Center or Operation Christmas Child.
