TOPEKA—Jo Ann Van Meter, 62, of Topeka, passed away Thurs., Oct. 8, 2009. She was born Mar. 25, 1947 in Ada, Kansas to J. E. (Skinney) and Hazel Van Meter. She was a dedicated attorney and former nurse. Jodie was preceded in death by her brother, David Van Meter in 1978 and her father J. E. (Skinney) Van Meter in 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Oppenheim and husband David of Denver; Stephanie Teasley and husband Chris of Lenexa; her newborn grandson, Aiden Oppenheim; her mother , Hazel Van Meter of Ada ; her sister Jeri Van Meter of Minneapolis, and brother, Russ Van Meter of Ada and her many friends and colleagues in the Topeka legal community.
There will be no visitation, as cremation was chosen. Please join us to celebrate Jodie's life at 2:00 P. M. Sat., Oct. 17 at Ada Baptist Church, followed by a fellowship luncheon at the Ada Community Building. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the college fund for Jodie's grandchildren established in her honor by her colleagues in the legal community.
