He was a 1973 graduate of Minneapolis High School and was looking forward to his upcoming 45 ^th class reunion. After high school, he attended Sterling College and then moved to North Carolina for a few years. After returning to Kansas, he went to baseball umpire school in Florida and became a semi pro and Big Eight umpire. Jerry also officiated high school and junior high football and basketball. He spent several years in the restaurant business, sold AFLAC insurance, and was a manager for Duckwall's in Smith Center. Jerry loved all sports. He enjoyed watching and attending games whenever he could. Jerry was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas Jayhawks. He was a very friendly, easy going, and caring person. Even with all his health problems, he always continued to have a positive attitude. His sharp wit and sense of humor were like none other. Jerry was a great friend to all, especially those at Pheasant Run Apartments where he served as "Chairman of the Board". His neighbors were so important and meant the world to him. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, former caregiver, Carol Freeman, and his Pheasant Run family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard "Dick" Pitts; sister-in-law, Judy Pitts; sister-in-law Gwen Pitts; and nephew, Brent Pitts.

Survivors are his daughter, Sarah (Will) Beatovich; son, Rob Parker; five grandchildren; brother, Jim (Elsie) Pitts of Manhattan; sisters, Radonna (Chuck) Stein of Salina; and Susie (Jack) Stenfors of Bennington; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services will be 10:30, Thursday, September 27 at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis. The family encourages casual attire or your favorite sports team attire. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Minneapolis E.M.S.
