Obituary

Sadly, but with plenty of good memories to make us smile, we announce the passing of Martin Jeffrey "Jeff" Comfort, who died Saturday, August 22, 2026, at home with his loved ones at his side.

Jeff was born May 25, 1961, in Salina to David and Sheila (Baker) Comfort. He was a 1979 graduate of Minneapolis High School.

Jeff had a lot of favorites. He loved a good dusty-road ag tour—especially if a cold beer was involved. He also appreciated the quieter things in life, like a peaceful morning with a cup of coffee and that day's Wordle waiting to be conquered.

Music was a huge part of Jeff's life. He was a brilliant musician and singer with a seemingly endless encyclopedia of knowledge stored away in his head. He was fun, talented, engaging, charming, and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone.

Over the years, Jeff wore a lot of hats. As a young man, he delivered milk. He spent many years working at House of Sight and Sound, drove a charter bus for Jimco Charters, worked at Bennington School, and was a longtime employee of Solomon Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Doug and Mitch.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Sherry (Tasker) Comfort; stepchildren, Brandy Jeglum and Brooks Olivier; grandchildren, Everly and Mason; brother, Mike; sister, Julie McCullick and husband, Eric; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Louise; uncle, Brad Comfort and wife, Debbie; brother-in-law, Russell Tasker and his wife, Debbie; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, fellow musicians, coffee drinkers, beer drinkers, and probably more than a few people who lost an argument to Jeff because he knew the answer.

Jeff especially loved spending time at the Wells Community Center, a place that held a special spot in his heart, where food was enjoyed, recipes were compared, stories were told, and nobody seemed to leave hungry.

"Where there is bread, there is love."

Everyone is invited to celebrate Jeff's life on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from Noon to 4:00 P.M. at the Wells Community Center. Please bring a dish to share, along with photos, stories, and memories to pass around. This will be a casual BYOB gathering to honor a life well lived—and Jeff would probably prefer it that way.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to the family to assist with Jeff's medical expenses and may be mailed to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.

And finally, perhaps Jeff can best be summed up by a well-known Bennington bartender who once said: "Jeff is a poop. He's a very likable poop, but a poop nonetheless." This quote may have been edited just a little.
