Jeane Maxine Hemenway, 90, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan in Minneapolis, and had been in hospice care for several months.

Jeane was born to Leo and Bess Callahan on January 20, 1926 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and grew up in Southeastern Kansas. She graduated from Morehead High School, attended junior college in Independence, Kansas, The University of Kansas, and Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada. Jeane studied music education and organ performance.

Jeane met Bill Hemenway at the University of Kansas in Lawrence and they married at Danforth Chapel on the KU campus on June 1, 1950. They then moved to Minneapolis where Bill went into business with his father at the Minneapolis Messenger . Jeane became the long-time organist/pianist for the Presbyterian and Community Bible churches, Lions' Club, and countless weddings and funerals. She was also piano teacher to many Minneapolis and area students. Bill preceded Jeane in death in July of 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Robichaud and husband Jon of Blue Springs, MO; son, Bob Hemenway and wife Jill of McPherson, and daughter Carol Hemenway of Burlington, IA; sister Carolene Herbel of Taos, NM; step-daughter, Cherryl Boss and husband Elvin of Minneapolis; step-son Mike Platt and wife Debbie of Wichita; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding Jeane in death were her brother, John Callahan, infant sister Morene Callahan, and second husband, Bud Platt.

The viewing will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home in Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 3-5. Graveside services will be Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis. Pastor Doug Neumann will officiate. Pallbearers will be Andy, Aaron, and Alex Robichaud and Jacob Hemenway, grandsons; John Wilson; Dick Wyatt; and Wayne Reed. Aaron Robichaud, Houston, TX will provide music.      Memorials may be made to the Minneapolis High Alumni Association and can be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P. O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467. The family requests no flowers, please.
