Janis R. Buckles, 77, Delphos, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis.
She was born Janis Rae McLaughlin in Edgar, Nebraska on February 9, 1933 to Paul and Helen (Vap) McLaughlin. She was united in marriage with Harold R. Buckles on November 10, 1950 in Hastings, Nebraska. Janis was a cook at the Delphos Attendance Center for over 30 years. She was a member of the Delphos United Methodist Church and the Delphos Senior Center.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Dean McLaughlin; her sister Sally Sheves; and her husband Harold on July 22, 2000.
Janis is survived by her children Debbie Miller and her husband Phillip of Salina, Teri Cordill and her husband John of Downs, Glenda Kieffer and her husband Lyle of Minneapolis, and Todd Buckles and his wife Tama of Delphos; her brothers Craig, Clark, and Bill McLaughlin; her sisters Shirley Harms, Gayle Lamb, Sharon Kenley, and Linda Bruns; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday at the Delphos United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Geisler and Michele McHenry, C.L.P. officiating. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Delphos Senior Center for an American Flag pole.
