Janice D.
Chancy
Mar 15, 1949 — Jul 12, 2023
Delphos
Janice D. Chancy, 74, Delphos, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Salina Regional Health Center, after a short battle with cancer. Jan was born March 15, 1949, in Concordia, to Lyle and Jean (McMillan) Trussell.
Jan was a 1967 graduate of Glasco High School and then attended Fort Hays State University where she met a scrawny Kansas boy from the town over. After just one year she decided to put her education on hold and follow that boy on adventures TBD. She and Terry F. Chancy were eventually united in marriage on August 2, 1969. After some town hopping in Nebraska, they relocated back to Delphos in 1977. Jan worked as the Assistant Cashier at the State Bank of Delphos and Citizen's State Bank, retiring in 2013 after 30 years of service.
Jan loved to garden and worked hard to maintain her amazing flower gardens on the farm. Jan and Terry enjoyed traveling, and they would regularly make trips to their family's vacation house in Tucson, where she would meet up with her brothers but also close friends. She was an excellent cook and passed on that love to her kids and grandchildren. And the running joke is that no matter what is made... Oma can ALWAYS make it better. But her biggest love was spending time with her grandkids, and she loved to follow their activities wherever that might take them. It did not matter if it was a school activity, sporting event, or a horse show, she always loved watching them do what they loved.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jennifer Chancy on December 14, 2012; and her brother, Terry Trussell.
Survivors are her husband, Terry; son, Chris; three grandchildren, Milla, Fynn and Ilsa; and brothers, James and wife, Mary, John and wife, Alice, and Gary and wife, Rita.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 2 at Words of Light of Fellowship Church, Delphos. Private graveside services for family will be in the Delphos Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nicol Home and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
