Janet Colleen Boss, 77, formerly of Salina, KS, passed away on July 25, 2026, at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, KS. She was born on May 30, 1949, to Warren and C. Genevieve Condray in rural Miltonvale, KS.

She grew up on the family farm in rural Wells, KS. She graduated from Longford High School in 1967. She graduated from Emporia State University in 1970 with a degree in education. She then got her master's degree in special education from Kansas State University. She was employed at Central Kansas Cooperative in Education for over 35 years and taught special education in Bennington and Tescott schools, then in Salina at Lowell Elementary, Franklin Elementary, and Schilling Elementary schools until her retirement in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jettie Condray, and sisters-in-law Peg Condray and Doris Condray. She was married to Elvin Boss, and after they divorced, remained friends until his passing in 2023.

She is survived by her children, Eric Boss (Melissa) of Ellis, KS, Genny Hall (Kevin) of Gypsum, KS, and Carri Boss-Barry (Troy) of Bennington, KS; grandchildren Emma and Eryn Boss, Emalie and Karson Hall, and Bailey, Nolan, and Nora Barry; her brother Jerry Condray; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Janet was very artistic and had a special knack for creativity. She spent numerous summers judging arts and crafts at many different 4-H county fairs.

In accordance with Janet's wishes, cremation has been chosen. Memorial services will be at 11:00, Thursday, August 6, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Family graveside services will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorials are suggested to Parkside Homes, in care of the funeral home.
