James L. Swagerty, 70, Minneapolis, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at his home.  He was born July 25, 1952, in Salina to Hansford Lloyd and Verla (Montague) Swagerty. After the death of his father, he was raised by his stepfather, Jack E. Smith.

James was a 1970 graduate of Minneapolis High School, and he earned a welding certificate at Salina Vo-Tech.  James and Toni Simpson were united in marriage on July 28, 1973.  He worked for ElDorado and KASA for many years as a welder.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Jack E. Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Toni; sons, Jim Swagerty and his wife, April and John Swagerty and his wife, Christina; brother, Lloyd Swagerty and his wife, Judy; sister, Jeri Wimer and her husband, Joel; four grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Hannah, and Trevor; one great-grandson, Liam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
