Ivan F. Gros 90 of Lewistown passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 in the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center of natural causes. He was born October 1, 1924 in Flush, KS the son of Peter and Louise (Umscheid) Gros. He received his education in Kansas and on March 17, 1944 he entered the United States Army serving with the Infantry in World War II and received a purple heart. He received his discharge on February 9, 1946 and returned to Kansas. He attended Kansas State University. On September 1, 1948 he was united in marriage to Mary Virginia O'Donnell in Manhattan, KS. He graduated from KSU in 1950 and then worked for Lincoln County for 7 years. They moved to Minneapolis, KS in January of 1957 and he served as County Office Manager of the Ottawa County USDA until his retirement in October of 1984.
They made their home in Minneapolis until her death in 2002, he moved to Montana in recent years to be near his daughter.

Ivan was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Minneapolis, serving in the lay ministry as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Country Club all of Minneapolis, KS and was a member of the American Legion, the DAV all of Manhattan, and NARFE of Salina, KS.

He is survived by one son Martin (Janet) Gros of Royal Palm Beach, FL; one daughter Terri (Rick) Catron of Lewistown, MT; one sister Helen Kuhn of Manhattan, KS; three grandsons Jason, Chad (Jill) and Todd Catron; three great grandchildren Tessa, Liam and Claira Catron and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Minneapolis, KS. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 27 at Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis, and may be left in care of the funeral home.
