Iris Martin, 84, Minneapolis, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Ottawa County Health Center. Iris was born March 9, 1928 in Tescott to Ross and Zada (Brooks) Matthews. She was united in marriage with Donald Martin on September 22, 1946. They lived in various locations while Donald was in the United States Air Force. They moved to Minneapolis in 1956. Iris worked as a government employee at various military installations and she was a homemaker. Iris was a lifelong advocate of the human treatment of animals and she was a member of the Tescott United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on May 17, 1989; her brothers D.H. "Buss" Matthews and Ross D. Matthews; and her sisters EllaV Rahe, Mary Ann Gardinier, and Bonnie Miller.

Survivors include her sister Geraldine Oliver of Denver, CO; eleven nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. Viewing will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Tescott United Methodist Church.
