Ida LaVona Merry, 84, Delphos, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Nicol Home, Glasco. LaVona was born February 27, 1930 in Cloud County, KS to Harry and Ellen (Nichols) Forshee.
LaVona and Wallace Merry were united in marriage on October 2, 1947. To this union nine children were born. LaVona was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked as a cook at various locations including the Delphos Rest Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; brother Harry Lee Forshee; sister Marguerite Thorpe; and two infant sisters Thelma and Marie.
Survivors include her children Linda Chester and husband Kenny of Seagoville, TX, Jayne Martin and husband Marvin of Cody, WY, Deb Hoesli and husband Steve of Delphos, Jerry Merry and wife Kim of Salina, Dawnie Plunkett and husband Gary of Minneapolis, Gerry Merry and wife Jody of Delphos, Rick Merry and wife DeLisa of Delphos, Rhonda Kiser and husband Doug of Delphos, and Sherry Griffith and husband James of Delphos; brother Bill Forshee of Concordia; sisters Neva Demanett and Norine Koester both of Concordia and Phyllis Larson and Audrey Elyea both of Belleville; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 23 at the First Presbyterian Church, Delphos with Pastor Michele McHenry officiating. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nicol Home or the First Presbyterian Church.
