Howard LeRoy Miller was born on April 11, 1927 at Minneapolis, Kansas, the only son of George LeRoy (Roy) Miller and Wilma Nisbeth Miller. He passed away April 29, 2014, at the age of 87, at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis, Kansas.

Howard was raised on the family farm south of Minneapolis until he entered the Army Air Force February 9, 1946. He was discharged from the service on April 4, 1947, after serving in the Philippines during World War II.

Howard was united in marriage to Lorraine Virginia Pridey on May 5, 1948 in Abilene, Kansas. There are three children from this union: Gregory Bruce, Kirk Eric who died as an infant, and Stacey Lea. After 44 years of marriage to the love of his life, Howard was preceded in death by Lorraine, June 25, 1992.

After returning to the area following his army service, Howard worked for Edmand's Motor Company and later, Kreigh Motor Company until his retirement. In retirement, he ran a lawn mowing business for several years. Howard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Minneapolis, serving as a deacon and elder. He always enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of the Minneapolis Saddle Club. Howard also raised cattle on the family farm for many years.

He is survived by his son, Greg Miller and wife Nancy of Venice, Florida, his daughter, Stacey Windhorst of Benton, Kansas, and his grandchildren, Andrea and Alex Windhorst of Bennington, Kansas.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 21st at the First Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, with Pastor Michele McHenry officiating. The children suggest memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church or the Good Samaritan Society.
