Obituary

Harold Eugene McCullick, 81, Minneapolis, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis after a brief illness.


Harold was born July 25, 1933 in Culver, the son of Horace and Neva (Redding) McCullick. He was married to Joan Markley and to this union were born two daughters, Kimberly and Michele. Harold later married Nadine (Mangold) Burger on August 2, 1975. Nadine had four daughters and together they became a family.


Harold was a lifelong resident of Ottawa County. He went to grade school at Crown Point at Culver and graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1951. Harold joined the United States Navy and served four years. He returned and worked for the City of Minneapolis. Harold also worked for various farmers and ranchers. In 1987 he was hired as Ottawa County Highway Administrator. Harold also served as an Ottawa County Commissioner for eight years.


Harold was a tough guy with a big heart. He loved his family and was a great listener and adviser to his grandchildren. He had a passion for horses, riding pastures, farming, dancing, his black stallion pickup, and greeting trick or treaters on Halloween. Harold loved playing dominos with the kids and every family member got a call the morning of their birthday from grandma and grandpa singing Happy Birthday.


He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kimberly; grandson Mason McHenry; and great-grandson Oliver Schapaugh.


Survivors include his wife Nadine of the home; five daughters Terry Davis and husband Bud of Salina, Tamra Muller and husband Mike of Ness City, Michele McHenry and husband Jeff of Delphos, Tandis Peterson and husband Jim of Salina, and Trasenda Lundin and husband Mark of Manhattan; brother Ken McCullick of Delphos; 15 grandchildren Lori Davis Denny and husband Grant, Jami Schapaugh and husband Adam, Matthew Davis, Janel Schroeder and husband R.J., Jesse Muller, Jay Muller and wife Kristen, Megan Endres and husband Wes, Molly Reilly and husband Chris, Lauren Richard and husband Remy, Ross, Trell, Taylor, and Tyler Peterson, and Reid and Regan Lundin; ten great-grandchildren Tiana Epperson, Sydney Davis-Denny, Max Davis-Denny, Jayla Schroeder, Benjamin Endres, Carson Schroeder, Addison Schapaugh, Joseph Endres, Jordyn Muller, and Layne Schapaugh.


Harold's life will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 24 at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis with Pastors Don Schroeder and Michele McHenry officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
